Farthingwood Romeo was bred by Amanda Woof and was owned by us ( as Snowbella Miniatures) from weaning when he was judged Best Foal at the 1998 International Miniature Horse and Pony Society annual breed show and auction . He was ably produced and handled by Sam and Julian Quiney throughout his showing career.
Romeo was a prolific showhorse. He was the first ever miniature horse Champion at HOYS, Wembley in 2000 which was the first year that HOYS hosted miniature horses.
Romeo won almost every title in the miniature horse world, sometimes twice over. In his first show as a yearling he won his class and was reserve Champion at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. In the same season he won many firsts in class, championships and reserves at various shows including County shows. In particular, he succeeded over more than 150 horses to become the Supreme Champion at the All Miniature Breeds Show, Doncaster in 1999. He triumphed over more than 100 horses to become reserve Supreme at the BMHS Annual Breed Show in 1999 and subsequently in 2001 bettered that to become Supreme of the Show. He enjoyed many other successes. In 2003 we took him to France with our other miniatures where they stayed until 2010. From then on Romeo enjoyed an honourable retirement with us at our farm, SBM Arabians.
His first foal (a skewbald colt) was born in 2002 and qualified for HOYS in 2003.
Sadly Romeo died of colic on 29th August 2021.
Hopefully now reunited with his friend Vodofon Kossack, the only stallion whom Romeo would tolerate.
